The Boston Lacan Reading Group will begin to meet in August 2005. The reading group will be open to the public and hold monthly meetings. The group will focus on reading Lacan's seminars, but will welcome presentations and papers by members of the group. The Critical Theory Reading Circle has been formally in existence since 1992. Membership consists primarily of students studying Lacanian theory at the University of Missouri primarily under the guidance of Dr. Ellie Ragland. The Center sponsors interdisciplinary and interinstitutional programs in psychoanalysis and related psychotherapies. Programs are targeted for post-graduate clinicians, but are open to trainees, academics, and anyone interested in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. The Center is sponsored by the Creighton University Department of Psychiatry. Various theoretical orientations are represented within the Center, including the Lacanian orientation. Programs include a weekly Friday conference, online programs, and workshops including the Lacanian "Omaha Workshop in the Freudian Field."
